Can you ever have TOO MUCH horsepower, performance, and handling? Most auto enthusiasts would exclaim with a resounding, "NO!" We have to admit, around here this is all pretty popular too! For 2016 Ford has teamed up with Petty's Garage to make one head-turning Mustang! Here's the lowdown from Erick Ayapana over at
Motor Trend...
"Ford has once again teamed up with Petty’s Garage to create a limited-edition Mustang GT. The modified creations, called Petty’s Garage 2016 Ford Mustang GT King editions, make more power than the stock Mustang GTs and will sell in small numbers.
"For starters, Petty’s Garage bolts on a Ford Performance supercharger that adds an additional 235 horsepower for a total of 670 hp. A level two option bumps power to 727 hp. Other modifications include TrakPak Ford Performance halfshafts, adjustable front and rear sway bars, and an upgraded rear axle. Also added are custom 20-inch wheels, an upgraded suspension, and a center-mounted exhaust.
"A Mustang GT King Premier model boasts bigger brakes (six-piston calipers up front and four-piston units for the rear), different wheels, and custom paint stripes that include the signature Petty blue color.
"The tuner plans to build 243 King models, 43 King Premier coupes, and 14 King Premier convertibles. Pricing will start at $67,495 for the King model and $90,495 for the King Premier edition. The supercharger is covered by a Ford-backed three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty.
"Petty’s Garage previously built a modified Ford Mustang GT for last year’s SEMA show. That car boasted a Ford Performance/Roush supercharger that increased power to 627 hp. It also featured a two-tone paint finish dominated by the Petty blue hue and was also sold in limited numbers."
